Dear Family,
Hi! My name is Nicole, I’m 21 years old and from the Philippines. I’m currently in Malaysia for my studies and internship, and I’m looking for a host family where I can experience living in a different country, learn about a new culture, and become part of the family.
Most of my childcare experience comes from my own family. I started helping take care of my nephew when he was around 6 months old. I helped with feeding, changing, playing with him, and keeping him company. We’ve become really close, and whenever I go back to the Philippines, he always looks for me. I’ve also helped take care of my younger cousins, so I’m used to being around children and helping with their daily activities.
I enjoy doing simple activities with kids like reading books, drawing, arts and crafts, counting, learning letters and sounds, playing games, singing songs, and doing little activities to keep them interested. I can also help with homework and tutoring, especially English and Biology. I’m patient when explaining things and I don’t mind trying different ways if a child doesn’t understand something at first.
I learned some basic first aid in school before, and I wouldn’t mind taking a refresher course to go over it again. I’m also comfortable around pets since I have pets back home and have helped take care of them. I can swim and ride a motorcycle, and I’m currently learning how to drive a car in Malaysia. I don’t have a driving license yet, but I’m slowly learning.
I’d describe myself as friendly, patient, adaptable, and easy to get along with. I can be a little quiet when I first meet someone, but once I get comfortable, I’m much more talkative. I’m also willing to learn your family’s routines and the way you prefer things to be done.
I’m happy to help with light household chores and simple cooking as well. I understand that being an au pair is not only about taking care of the children, but also helping out with everyday things and being considerate of the family I’m staying with.
What I’m looking forward to most is the cultural exchange. I’d love to experience everyday life in your country, learn about your culture and traditions, and also share Filipino food, traditions, and little things about my life with your family.
I’m hoping to find a family where we can communicate openly, respect each other, and hopefully become comfortable around each other over time. I’d also be happy to have a video call if you’d like to get to know me better before deciding if we might be a good match.
