Introduction

My name is Hamna, but my friends and family also call me Hunny. I am from Pakistan and currently living in Islamabad. I am a pretty simple person who enjoys being around people I feel comfortable with, spending time with family, reading novels, cycling, hiking, cooking and discovering something new whenever I can.

One of the biggest reasons I want to become an Au Pair is actually very simple: I genuinely enjoy being around children. There is something about their energy and innocent way of seeing things that always makes me feel better. When I am stressed or having a bad day, spending time with children can completely refresh my mood. Playing with them, talking to them, helping them with little things or simply watching them enjoy something makes me feel relaxed and happy. I think that is one of the reasons childcare has always felt natural to me rather than just being a responsibility.

My experience with children has mostly come through my own family, relatives and volunteering. I have two younger siblings, so I have been involved in their everyday routines for years. I help them get ready for school, prepare their uniforms and, when my mother is not at home, I also prepare their meals and school lunches. I have looked after my aunt's children while she was working as a teacher, spending time with them, playing with them and helping with their little daily tasks.

I also had the opportunity to volunteer at a home for orphaned children. Spending time with those children taught me a lot about patience, kindness and simply being present for someone. I have never worked as a professional Au Pair before, so I do not want to present myself as something I am not. But I do have real experience caring for children and I genuinely enjoy it.

Why Germany and why this experience?

For me, becoming an Au Pair in Germany is not simply about travelling abroad. I want to experience what everyday family life in Germany is really like, improve my German, become more independent and build a genuine connection with a host family.

My interest in Germany also has a personal story behind it. During my volunteer experience, I learned about Dr. Ruth Pfau, who came from Germany to Pakistan and dedicated her life to helping people. Her story really stayed with me and made me curious about Germany and its culture.

Since then, I have also enjoyed watching German videos, movies and shows, and I am currently learning German at B1 level. I speak Urdu, English and Punjabi as well, so I would be happy to share my language and Pakistani culture with my future family while learning about theirs.

I am already used to being away from my family. I currently live in Islamabad while my family is in another city, and I manage my own daily life, including cooking, laundry and other responsibilities. I see this as a good stage of my life to become even more independent, responsible and confident.

For my future host family, I am hoping for something simple but meaningful: a respectful, caring and comfortable family environment where we can communicate openly, trust each other and feel comfortable sharing everyday life. I would love to become part of the family while also respecting everyone's personal space and routines.

For me, cultural exchange means more than learning about another country. It means sharing everyday life, stories, food, traditions and little moments with each other.

If you feel that I could be a good fit for your family, I would really love to have a video call and get to know you properly. I would love to hear about your family, your children and your life in Germany, and of course tell you more about myself too.

Maybe this could be the beginning of a really lovely experience for all of us.
